Developing Writing across the Curriculum
22nd June 1.30-3.30pm Course cost: Free
This in-person CPD session will support teachers to reflect on and develop their practice in teaching writing in the subject curriculum. The session will be led by Fiona Oakley from the National Literacy Trust.
Audience: Secondary subject teachers, teachers of Year 5/6*, whole-school literacy leaders or literacy coordinators
In the training they will:
Consider the cognitive challenge of writing
Engage with research to understand what works in the teaching of writing
Review understanding of text type knowledge to support disciplinary writing
Understand what a new year 7 student working at the expected level can do
Explore a sequence for teaching writing (modelling, planning and editing)
Try out practical strategies for improving sentences
